Sunday afternoon, Lebanon Police officers responded to the Lebanon Municipal Airport after receiving a 911 call regarding a male subject attempting to enter an occupied, running single-engine airplane.
When officers arrived, they located the male inside the Lebanon Airport terminal sitting on a couch in the pilot’s lounge. As officers worked to better understand the situation, the subject, 25-year-old Joshua Summer of Westmoreland, became combative and attempted to grab an officer’s firearm.
Officers acted quickly and were able to place Summer into custody without further incident.
Shortly afterward, the Communications Center received a call from an individual reporting that a male subject had entered their vehicle and asked for a ride to the airport.
In an effort to avoid escalating the situation, the caller complied. Based on the information provided, officers determined the subject was Joshua Summer.
It is believed Summer was under the influence of narcotics during this incident.
Joshua Summer will face multiple local charges. In addition, the department is beginning the process of coordinating with our federal partners, including the Federal Aviation Administration and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, regarding the possibility of federal charges.
