South Jackson Performing Arts Center and Clan Dram invite you to join us for Spirits Walk, a unique evening combining whisky tastings, ghost stories, history, and a little mystery throughout historic South Jackson.
Guests will make their way through the building while enjoying specially selected whisky tastings and hearing chilling tales of ghosts, legends, and things that may still go bump in the night. With more than a century of history within these walls, South Jackson makes the perfect setting for an evening devoted to the spirits!

Rutherford/La Vergne: Guns and Drugs Found After Slow Speed Arrest
Recently, an La Vergne Police officer attempted to stop a vehicle near Tom Hailey Boulevard and La Vergne Lane after observing it traveling 45 MPH in a 25 MPH zone. The driver failed to stop and continued through the residential area at speeds between approximately 6–12 MPH before eventually stopping near Shannon Lane.
As additional officers arrived, both occupants were safely taken into custody. During the subsequent investigation, officers located a Glock .40-caliber handgun with what appeared to be a machine gun conversion device, commonly referred to as a “switch” along with marijuana and several Percocet pills. Officers also developed evidence indicating attempts may have been made to tamper with or destroy evidence before contact was made.
Both occupants admitted to consuming alcohol, and one was transported to the hospital for medical clearance.
The driver faces multiple charges, including felony evading, DUI, tampering with evidence, drug offenses, and driving on a suspended license. The passenger faces charges including drug offenses, tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm while under the influence, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
Coffee/Manchester: Police Department Offers Senior Outreach Service
The Manchester Police Department is proud to offer the Senior Outreach Service, a free program designed to support the safety, independence, and well-being of senior citizens and disabled residents in our community.
Through weekly wellness check-ins, participants receive an added layer of support and peace of mind. If we are unable to reach a participant, their designated emergency contact will be notified, and when necessary, an officer may conduct an in-person welfare check.
To be eligible for the program, participants must be residents of the City of Manchester, be 60 years of age or older and/or disabled and complete the participation form.
Signing up is easy. Complete the participation form online or print the form https://www.cityofmanchestertn.gov/.../senior_outreach... and bring it to the Manchester Police Department. Once your application is received, a member of the Manchester Police Department will contact you to schedule your introductory call and get you enrolled in the program.

Warren/McMinnville: Police Increasing Presence On Roads During School Arrival and Dismissal
With funding from the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO), the McMinnville Police Department is increasing officer presence on our roadways during school arrival and dismissal times.
Officers will be focusing on traffic violations that can put our students, families, and other motorists at risk, including:
• Speeding, especially in and around school zones
• Hands-free device violations and distracted driving
• Seat belt violations
• Child passenger safety violations
We ask everyone to do their part. Slow down, buckle up, put the phone down, and stay alert, especially when traveling near our schools.
Our goal is not only enforcement—it is to help prevent crashes and keep our children, families, and community safe.
Together, we can make a difference and reduce crashes resulting in injuries.

Rutherford/Murfreesboro: Police Investigate Shooting At Brookwood
Detectives from the Murfreesboro Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division (CID) are actively investigating a shooting that injured a man and woman and damaged a truck.
The shooting occurred around 6:14 p.m. on Monday, August 10, at Brookwood Apartments on South Rutherford Boulevard. Authorities discovered the victims at a nearby location, near North Rutherford and Halls Hills Pike. An 18-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to his upper middle back, while a 19-year-old woman was grazed by a bullet on her neck area. Both victims are currently in stable condition.
Gunfire also struck a truck parked at the apartment complex.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victims were visiting a friend at the complex when two individuals allegedly began shooting at their car, injuring both and striking the vehicle.
Detectives have interviewed several tenants and are reviewing surveillance footage from the complex to identify the suspects.
Anyone with information about the shooter is urged to contact Detective Aaron Coopman at 629-201-5656 or the CID at 615-893-2717.
The investigation is ongoing.

Criminal Investigations Division detectives are investigating a shooting that left two people injured.
The shooting occurred at the Brookwood Terrace Apartments on South Rutherford Blvd. around 6:17 p.m. Monday evening.
Two victims were taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.
CID detectives are working to retrieve surveillance video to identify a suspect.
The main entrance of the apartment complex is blocked until further notice. Management has opened the rear entrance of the complex for tenants.
This is an ongoing investigation.

Bedford/Shelbyville: Pair Charged With Sexual Exploitation of a Minor
A thorough investigation conducted by members of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force has resulted in multiple arrests and the identification of two victims.
Detective Sergeant Chris Brown and Detective Savanah Martin with the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, both Task Force Officers with ICAC, conducted an extensive investigation involving Brandon Zeigler. As a result of that investigation, Zeigler has been charged with two counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.
During the course of the investigation, Det. Sgt. Brown and Det. Martin were able to identify two separate victims, allowing investigators to take immediate action and continue following the evidence beyond the initial investigation.
One of the victims was identified in Columbia, Tennessee. Information developed during the investigation was quickly relayed to the appropriate jurisdiction, where an additional female suspect was identified and charged.
A second victim was also identified through the investigation, resulting in Destiny Carswell being charged with Aggravated Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.
The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office would like to recognize and thank Investigator Jamiee Seltz with the Columbia Police Department for her swift response and immediate action in assisting with the investigation and making an arrest.
We would also like to thank Detective Sergeant Samuel Campbell with the Shelbyville Police Department Digital Forensics Unit for his assistance and the critical digital forensic work conducted during this investigation.
Cases involving the exploitation of children rarely stop at jurisdictional boundaries. Investigations such as this demonstrate the importance of cooperation between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and the resources provided through the ICAC Task Force.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have additional information regarding Brandon Zeigler, or who believes they or someone they know may have had inappropriate contact with Zeigler, to contact the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office. Any information, regardless of how insignificant it may seem, could be important to the ongoing investigation.
The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to identifying those who exploit children, locating and protecting victims, and working alongside our law enforcement partners to hold offenders accountable.
We are especially proud of the diligent work of Det. Sgt. Brown and Det. Martin and grateful for every investigator and agency whose cooperation helped identify these victims and bring this investigation to this point.
Warren/McMinnville: Warren County Health Department Hosts Baby Shower
On August 7, 2026, the Warren County Health Department hosted a wonderful Baby Shower at Three Star Mall, and the McMinnville-Warren County Child Passenger Seat Coalition was happy to be a part of it!
During the event, Coalition members conducted 5 child passenger seat inspections and provided caregivers with helpful information about proper car seat use and child passenger safety.
Representing the Coalition were the McMinnville Police Department, McMinnville Fire Department, and Tennessee Highway Patrol. The McMinnville Fire Department also gave families tours of the fire engines, which was a great addition to the event.
It was a great opportunity to visit with families and share information that can help keep our youngest passengers safe.

The training class is a 14-week course held February through April and costs $225. After completing the course, participants are expected to contribute at least 40 volunteer hours that year to complete their certification.
