Warren/McMinnville: Traffic stop leads to arrest

On April 19, 2026, at approximately 3:42 a.m., Officer K. McCormick conducted a traffic stop on Highway 55 for a speeding violation.

The driver was identified as 23-year-old Xaviur A. Patterson of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Upon making contact with the driver, Officer McCormick detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The driver was also observed repeatedly reaching under his seat.
A search of the vehicle was conducted. Under the driver’s seat, officers located a loaded Glock 9mm handgun with a round in the chamber, along with a loaded 50-round drum magazine. Also recovered was a reusable water bottle containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, along with one large baggie and five individually wrapped baggies.
During the remainder of the search, $337 in U.S. currency was located in the center console. A second loaded Glock 9mm handgun with a round in the chamber was found in the rear pocket of the passenger seat.
Both firearms were checked through dispatch. One firearm was confirmed stolen from Davidson County, while the second firearm had no record.
Further investigation revealed Patterson had an active warrant out of Rutherford County for failure to appear on drug-related charges.
Patterson was taken into custody and charged with:
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony (2 counts)
Manufacture/Delivery/Sale/Possession of a Controlled Substance (Schedule VI)
Theft of Property
His total bond was set at $30,000.
Patterson is scheduled to appear in court on April 23, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. A citation for speeding was also issued.
