The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a scam targeting families of individuals currently incarcerated in our correctional facility.
Scammers are calling family members and falsely claiming that for a payment of $2,500, their incarcerated loved one can be placed on house arrest and receive an ankle monitor to avoid remaining in jail.
THIS IS A SCAM!
Please be aware that the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office does not solicit payments from family members in exchange for placing inmates on house arrest or electronic monitoring.
We urge everyone to remain vigilant and remember:
• Do not send money or provide personal or financial information to anyone making these claims.
• Do not trust unsolicited calls or messages demanding payment for an inmate’s release.
• If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and contact the Sheriff’s Office directly to verify the information.
If you or someone you know has been contacted regarding this scam, please contact the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office at 615-444-1412.
