Detectives are asking residents for information about the driver of a truck who allegedly dragged a dog more than 600 yards Tuesday night near Burleson Lane and Justice Drive.
Witnesses recovered the injured dog from a ditch and took him for medical treatment, said Rutherford County Sheriff’s Detective Andrew Quintal.
Rutherford County Pet Adoption Welfare Services reported Friday the dog “succumbed to his injuries.”
Quintal said the truck was believed to be a white Ford pickup truck, possibly a F250 model. White spotlights were attached to the driver’s and passenger’s side and the hood of the vehicle near the mirrors. A light bar was attached to the top of the cab.
The Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies are helping with the search.
People who have information may call Quintal at 615-904-3054 or email at aquintal@rcsotn.org.
Callers may also contact Crime Stoppers anonymously between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday at 615-893-STOP (7867).
