Rutherford: Co-Responders Honored During Week

Rutherford County Sheriff’s Co-Responders were recognized for their mission to help people with mental health crises during National Co-Responder and Crisis Responder Week Sept. 14-20.

Co-responders are teams of law enforcement officers and behavioral health or mental health professionals who respond to calls of people experiencing mental health crises or behavioral issues.
They are trained in crisis intervention to give support, determine situations and link the person to community resources.
Volunteer Behavioral Health Vice President of Community Outreach Ella Britt delivered Crumbl Cookies to Co-Responders Sarahy Maneiro Ramos of VBH and Deputy Laura Horne and Deputy Michael Romans to celebrate the week.
Sheriff’s co-responder Emily Hill was recognized for her work.
The International Co-Responder Alliance created this week of recognition in 2023.
The week celebrates the many co-responders and crisis responders carrying out this important work across the country while trying to meet the rising demand for mental health and substance use services.
