Early this morning, La Vergne officers responded to a call involving a domestic violence incident. A female caller reported that her boyfriend, physically assaulted her by smashing a beer can into her face and breaking a car window where she and her child were sleeping. The suspect also reportedly had a firearm in his backpack and fled the scene in a spray-painted pickup truck.
Thanks to the swift actions and coordination of our patrol officers, detectives, K9 unit, drone operators, and support from partnering agencies, a thorough search was initiated. The suspect was ultimately located and taken into custody without further incident.
Given the suspect’s prior threats, known warrants, and his attempt to evade law enforcement, the situation was treated with the utmost seriousness. SWAT was deployed, a command post was established, and containment was secured. Negotiators successfully made contact, and after a coordinated effort, the suspect surrendered peacefully and was transported for booking.
This was a dynamic and potentially dangerous situation that could have ended much differently. We are proud of the professional, measured response by all involved. The victim is safe and receiving support.
The safety of our residents remains our top priority. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Help is available.
