Bedford County: Traffic Light Project Updated

Recently, a contract has been let for the installation of traffic signals at the intersection of U.S. 231, State Route 82 (Webb Highway), and Eady Road near Deason.
Bedford County Highway Superintendent Mark Clanton. reminds citizens to please keep in mind that this is a state project, under the auspices of Tennessee Department of Transportation.  The department is  relaying information because of the strong public interest in the project, but the project belongs to TDOT, not county government.

Work has now begun on installing temporary signals at the site. Because of supply chain problems, it may be 30 weeks or more until the permanent signal supports are available to be installed. The temporary signals will, however, let the public get used to having a new signal at that location, and help to make it safer.

The temporary signal should be in operation by the end of this month. As with many new traffic signals, it will initially be set to flashing, caution mode, until motorists become aware of it and know to look for it. Then, the signals will be set to normal, green-yellow-red operation.
Clanton urges all motorists to exercise extra caution during the installation process and while motorists get used to having a signal at that location. Once the signal is in place and functioning normally, it's expected to make that intersection safer for residents and visitors alike.
