The Shelbyville Police Department has been made aware of a scam where individuals are calling residents while claiming to be from the "Bedford County Police Department". The caller tells you that you’ve missed jury duty and that warrants have been issued for your arrest. They then try to pressure you into depositing money into a kiosk to “take care of it.”
This is a SCAM.
Law enforcement will NEVER call you to demand money, payment through kiosks, gift cards, or any other immediate financial transaction.
We will also never threaten arrest over the phone.
If you receive a call like this:
Hang up immediately
Do NOT send any money
Do NOT share personal information
